Imagine getting paid every time you played a song. Wouldn’t that be a great feeling? Well if getting paid $1 is the tune you are willing to sing to, here’s your key to success.

Be sure you are recording on a platform that’s registered with your PRO, I typically use YouTube, although most live streaming platforms are on here. Play your songs, keep a list, take a screen shot of your stats when you rae done, then follow these instructions.

Sever or months later, boom, a royalty check is in your inbox. If you are more of an extrovert and are gigging around playing live in person shows, do the same thing too. Register those songs and track those performances through your PRO for additional royalties.

I haven’t made a huge sum of money, but by quarter here are my approximate earnings for the last two cycles, $222 and $326. If you are intensively in to streaming, unlike how I am here’s some math for you. Say you are playing 10 songs every hour that you are streaming and you stream 10 hours a week, at the current pay out position that could lead you to an additional $100/week for sitting at home practicing your musical craft.

It doesn’t seem to matter how many viewers bounce in and out of your life stream, just that you stream and keep those original songs coming. If you do cover a song, put those on your set list to and the proper royalties should make their way down the funnel. Happy music making! And to those of you traveling around, go get those extra dollars out there gigging!
