Garage Band and Logic Pro Have a Problem with their Piano Roles and Therefore I Owe You an Apology
Let me first start off by apologizing, I’m sorry for any previous tracks I labeled 440 Hz, because I just found out some of them are not that.
I was making another track to help people with guided breathing exercises and had my phone out using the Spectrum app, because I wanted to verify I was using the right octave for 528 Hz, but I discovered an error, I was in fact in the wrong octave even though I was technically in the right one. Let me explain.
Middle C is C4, an octave above that is C5 which should be 528 HZ, A4 is 440 Hz…unless you are going by the piano roll in garage band in which case everything is an octave lower for some reason. A3 is 440 Hz, why this is the case I’m not sure and am reaching out to each company at this time.
It is possible this issue may only be in the Steinway Grand Piano keyboard roll, but at this point I’m not certain, just wanted to share a frustration and point of caution with everyone and apologize for the tracks I made claiming to be 440 Hz when they were not. I can with certainty this track below does in fact have 440 Hz along with all of my new works from this point forward.
