If Life is a Journey, Then the Destination is Death

Perhaps enjoying life in the moment has never been more important and more publicized than it has been now. When I was in school, it felt like they were always preparing us for what was coming, our future. Which makes sense, but isn’t an enjoyable or memorable way to live life. Somewhere towards the end of college, I started to live less like I was preparing for my future, because the future was finally here. Although after living like that for 20+ years it was a hard transition to make. I’m left with many gaps in my memory and a teacher said it was because I wasn’t living in the moment. I’m doing my best to do that now.

Life life as if you’ll die tomorrow, but make plans as if you’ll live forever.

I know there are things I would be doing at least a little differently if I knew I death was inevitably soon, I’d be more risky in my actions. But taking the second part of the advise under consideration, I won’t let all of my actions be as if I will die tomorrow. However, it is healthy for me to consider my mortality to remind me all those plans and dreams I’ve been putting off, should be accomplished soon.

Embrace and enjoy this moment.
