Lying Down Not Laying Down (For People Lying Down on Couches, Beds, Etc.)
I keep having to google if it is laying or lying down every time I refer to someone lying down, which is a lot in a guided meditation book. The articles seem a little ambiguous and the answer isn’t forth coming, so here it is.
When it comes to a person being in a reclined position they are lying down.
It is nearly an acceptable typo to say laying down (because things can go to laying down but it is an action of going from an inanimate object being held (or somewhere else) to being placed down). But if I can adhere to current and past grammatical rules, I’ll gladly do it. So here’s to lying down after a long series of google searches.
