Masks are Better than Scarfs for Keeping Out the Cold
Did your mom always harass you about wearing a scarf over your nose and mouth to keep the cold air from getting in your lungs as a child? Mine did. But I could never get the scarf to stay up. I’d be wrapped and bundled up, still breathing cold air.
Now I’m not sure if there are scientific reasons behind not breathing cold air, but apparently, if you are a good parent this is what you say to your child.
One of my favorite outcomes from the pandemic has been the widespread use of masks. My mom now tells me to wear my mask outside and I do enjoy the benefits of warmer air in the winter and it’s so much easier than trying to wrap my face with a scarf that won’t stay up. Masks, stay up.
