Music is like art, if you use a few notes in a song or a limited color palette; you won’t make brown.

When I began painting, my paintings were usually blues, purples, or greens mixed together to make a nearly monochromatic rainbow of the hues. I love painting the rainbow, but with the styles I used it was hard to make the rainbow without it turning brown.

When it comes to music, sometimes the simplest chord progressions are really the place to start, especially if you don’t know where you are going. Choose a tried and true chord progression, in the key of C and hit those I, V, vi, IVs because sometimes simplicity really is the easiest way to show others what you want to say.
