My Journey of Trying to Obtain Paxlovid to Treat My Case of COVID in September 2024

I started my case of COVID late Friday night, by Saturday morning I sent a message out on MyChart asking if I could get a prescription for Paxlovid. Monday I call the doctors office still trying to get a prescription, but, of course, it’s Labor Day weekend, something my covid brain didn’t think about until now. So I log back into my chart and try a telehealth visit, it took over an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment and by that time I finally went to urgent care. I had the nicest doctor and he told me even though I didn’t meet their typical high risk patient profile, he was going to prescribe it to me since I’d had long covid before. I pickup some of their suggestions to help with covid at Dollar General because the prices are better than Walgreens while I thought my prescription was being filled: zince, vitiman B, benedril, and I couldn’t find pepcidAC, even at walgreens.

When I was asked what pharmacy I wanted to use I said whatever one was open since it was Labor Day weekend, guss what, Walgreen Pharmacy was closed. I called urgent care back and they said they’d call it into CVS. I wanted to call CVS before going back out, but knew from trying to call them back on Saturday to get an appointment at their version of urgent care that they had a phone loop and wouldn’t answer their phone. Thankfully my partner found a loophole where we could leave a voicemail. He logged into my account and it said the prescription was not filled because my insurance didn’t…
