Patreon hosts an A Club where creators can meet other creators and collaborate with one another. The club I joined was for singers & songwriters and was led by Megan Slankard. Our club meet weekly for 8 sessions and we were randomly assigned partners. Vatoca Studios and I teamed up, we threw ideas back and forth, talked with each other and offered knowledge and support for one another. We were a few weeks in when we sort of had a: oh, are we going to do this project or maybe not so much? And we dove in, after one co-working session we took a poem I had and turned it into lyrics, slicing lines, adding words, changing it all up to this co-creation of lyrics listed below. She played the piano and I sang the melody back to her. After we were off zoom, I sung several takes, and sent them to her. We culled the singing selection and pulled together a good take. She worked her magic by cutting up two instrumental pieces I sent over: one with wind chimes and the other with my steel tongue drum. I was amazed at how she was able to chop and paste those two instrumental pieces together and figure out how to pair them with the vocals. Talk about producing!
