Veganism and Fasting from a Once Meat Eater

I struggled with stomach problems since 2nd grade, it’s been a slow and awkward process, navigating which foods don’t bother me, and then trying to sustain a diet that supports my health. The last piece of the puzzle was meat for me.

I thought fasting was my answer, but found when being vegan, fasting became incredibly difficult and frankly unnecessary. Even when I was on the paleo diet, which helped immensely with some of my stomach issues, I’d still have bad days. Not eating food was the answer to my belly pain, but that wasn’t a sustainable life answer indefinitely. I do find there’s a lot I learned from fasting and would still recommend it, but as a mostly vegan person now, I find I don’t have enough excess calories built up to casually fast like I once did. Which is fine, except when healthy options aren’t available. It’s close to noon and I haven’t eaten for the day. I’ve found intermittent fasting to still be easily accessible, but fasting for 24 hours has become more difficult and no longer necessary to relieve me from my belly pain. I’m thrilled to be this easily healthy and love being able to help myself become better in health by eating more plant based. Plus being vegan is the best choice for a small planet with limited resources.
